Copy PS3 Games - What You Need to Know

If you're smart, you'll make backups of your video games. This saves you lots of money and aggravation in the event that one of your games gets lost, damaged or completely broken.

But if you're going to copy PS3 games, there is something you need to know. First, since the games are printed on Blu-Ray discs, you can't backup your games onto normal DVDs. What this means is you will need to have a Blu-Ray burner and of course the fitting discs. If you already have a PS3, then there is a chance that you already have the right player/burner in your computer. If not, you can get one for around $200.

Just as important as the burner is the software you use. Not all of the programs out there can copy PS3 games. One reason is the copy protection. You will need software that can decrypt the game data and then make a perfect duplicate on the new disc.

If not, your game will not be a perfect one to one copy, and it will likely have errors. These can present themselves in a variety of ways. Most noticeable would be that it simply doesn't work. But they might also be more subtle, appearing in the form of graphical or audio quality loss. If this happens you may not know if your backup actually works. So it is very important to use the right application when you make your copies, this will save you from being disappointed when you realize the copy of the PS3 game doesn't work 100%.

To recap, backing up your collection is a great way to save yourself some money in the event that your games get damaged. By backing them up you don't have to spend more on a game that you've already bought. Another important thing to keep in mind is that you can't buy some games anymore.
